چکیده
Two hundred fifty-three patients with lumbar pars interarticularis defects were studied by multiplanar high-resolution computed tomographic scanning (CT/MPR). Two hundred thirty patients had one or more pars defects at L5, 21 at L4, and two at L3. Within this group of patients, 21% had more than 5 mm of disk bulge or herniation, 34% had foraminal encroachment, and 34% had indentation on the neural canal from soft-tissue or bony callus formation.

Evaluation of degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine with reformatted and 3-dimensional computed tomography images.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the identification of degenerative lesions of the lumbar spine with multiplanar reformatted images and 3-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT). METHODS Fifty-three patients with degenerative spinal disease findings on lumbar CT scanning were reviewed in this retrospective study at the Department of Radiology, Medical Faculty, Sutcu Imam University, Kahramanmaras, Turke...
متن کاملComparison of a Fluoroscopic Three Dimensional Imaging System and Conventional CT in Detection of Pars Fractures in the Cadaver
INTRODUCTION: Lumbar spondylolysis is defined as a defect or fracture of the pars interarticularis and can occur with or without anterior spondylolisthesis. This lesion is suspected to arise from repetitive trauma to the posterior elements of the spine and is a major cause of back pain in children; spondylolysis is found in approximately 6% of the pediatric/adolescent population as a whole and ...
متن کاملConfidence in Assessment of Lumbar Spondylolysis Using Three-Dimensional Volumetric T2-Weighted MRI Compared With Limited Field of View, Decreased-Dose CT
BACKGROUND Limited z-axis-coverage computed tomography (CT) to evaluate for pediatric lumbar spondylolysis, altering the technique such that the dose to the patient is comparable or lower than radiographs, is currently used at our institution. The objective of the study was to determine whether volumetric 3-dimensional fast spin echo magnetic resonance imaging (3D MRI) can provide equal or grea...
متن کاملDiagnosis and evaluation of spondylolisthesis and/or spondylolysis on axial CT.
A critical review was made of the CT findings in 300 patients who underwent axial CT of the lumbar spine in which spondylolysis and/or spondylolisthesis had been diagnosed. Findings indicate that axial CT is superior to conventional radiographs in several areas: (1) for consistent and accurate demonstration of spondylolysis, (2) for disclosing the various changes in the apophyseal joints associ...
